I'm writing this post to myself.

I only know of two people who have read this blog regularly.

  1. Peter, the only reader left, is busy driving from Taupo to Whangarei. That's about a five hour drive. Peter has a good excuse for not reading this post.
  2. Robert comes and goes, like his posts. On several occasions he has told both Peter and I that he loves us. He doesn't really act like he does. We haven't seen him for a while now.
Well, that being the case, I'm writing this post for me. Wow, it has been a wet night and a wet day. Yes, I know that. As you remember, Richard, you had to go to the supermarket a little while ago. That experience made you decide to stay home for the rest of the day. Well, I guess it gives me time to write this post.

I've got a feeling that the band at tomorrow's jam might be a Dixieland band. I know I don't have to tell me how I came to that conclusion because obviously I was there. It is possible that, a little while after Peter gets home, he might settle down with a Cleanskin fancy wine and checks out the state of the blogs. Well, I saw that at one of their other jams they had a Dixieland band made up of young cats. I should explain - sometimes jazz musicians are called cats. If that is true, they probably won't be playing Bebop tunes or Bossa Nova tunes. You'd expect to hear things like Mack the Knife or St. Louis Blues. I guess time will tell. As I know, I've been working on playing like a singer for a while, so this could be a good test for me - playing tunes that I haven't practised. Time will tell.

Should I pretend that I'm not talking to me? I guess that, if I just wrote in the normal way, no one would notice. Hang on, no one is reading this post. Just me, and maybe Peter at some later date. I can do whatever I like.

Sorry to intrude on your solitary manipulations ... sorry, musings. I'm home in Whangarei. Last night I hardly slept so got up at about 4AM, packed my suitcase, had a couple of cups of tea, read my book and waited for a reasonable time to leave Taupo. It was freezing cold. I'm glad that I travelled on the Desert Road yesterday as today the road was closed due to snowfall. It was also raining.
Sunrise was 7.10 but I left at 6.40. It didn't really get light until about 8.
You are right that it took about 5 hours to Whangarei (5 and a half with breakfast at Tirau) and the another half hour from Whangarei to McLead Bay.
Everything was secure* and I just relaxed through the day. I'm cooking myself a special birthday dinner (Lynn is in Melbourne) - fillet steak schnitzel and roasted vegetables with some decent chardonnay and pinot noir. Yummy!

* A surprise was a letter, addressed to me from the Wellington City Council. A $150 driving infringement for using a restricted lane on Adelaide Road on 1 August! Bastards! I was looking for the storage depot on Adelaide Road and, because of the stupid cycle lanes taking up most of the bloody road, instead of slowing or stopping in the main lane I kept left as much as I could instead of blocking a lane in case some other cars came along. NONE DID. NO CARS. NO BUSES. I must have moved along that 'restricted lane' for about 50 metres until I sped the street I wanted. I didn't see anyone so it must have been a camera somewhere. WELCOME TO WELLINGTON! I'm going to contest this.

Anyway - a comment for you. You must be pleased.

A comment, and only one spelling mistake! "until I sped the street I wanted."
Thank you, I feel blessed!

It was a lovely day in Feilding yesterday. We had morning tea at Orlando's Country then a romantic stroll around the Esplanade Gardens in Palmy, before have a Filipino Lunch at the Event centre.

Are you and Chris drinking blood?

Richard (of RBB) ha detto...

No. Coke. However, this was before we both escaped from the clutches of the Catholic church. Maybe they put the blood of Jesus in our drinks? Bastards!

THE CURMUDGEON ha detto...

No, you're thinking of a Bloody Mary.
