"Really - it's enough to make me want to soak my feet in cherry juice or suck shit off my finger."

That was the sentence TC used to wrap up his latest post. It seems that he's having computer problems.

This is Peter 'looking under the bonnet'
of his computer.

Well, this type of action worked for him in the old days.

Actually, Peter's car was white and I don't think it was a Humber 80, though it was something similar.
Anyway, it was a tough old car - I remember that Mike Wilson drove it a long way with the handbrake on.

Out of the group who were members of the WSCPC Society Peter was the oldest.

"A white sport coat and a pink carnation,
Doo wha,
I'm all dressed up for the dance."

Peter is still the oldest. Computers are not of his generation, which probably explains why he has trouble operating them.

I borrowed Peter's joke.

Maybe he'd be better off starting with something like a typewriter?

And computers?

Really - it's enough to make Peter want to soak his feet in cherry juice or suck shit off his finger.

Ah well, if that makes him happy.

Give anything a try, I say.

I've got it sorted now although I'm nervously checking the credit card account to make sure that I haven't been charged again for Microsoft 365.
I successfully downloaded Excel and Word and have created a spreadsheet for all the financials relating to the house renovations, Trade Me sales and, eventually the house sale and removal costs.
It's been interesting reacquainting myself with Excel. I used to create complicated spreadsheets for budgets and strategic plans when I was a working man. It was all a bit strange at first, particularly with Excel having moved on quite a way in development since I last used it. The spreadsheet will be worthwhile once I've finished though and will help is in budgeting.
I won't have to lick a shit covered finger like Richard does but may still have to soak my feet in cherry juice.

The car you're thinking of was a Hillman Super Minx 1964. It was a very light grey colour - not quite white. Mike and Tony both tried to destroy it at different times but it was hardy enough to withstand their attempts.

"...and will help is in budgeting." What does that mean?

Thanks for sharing.

No, I wasn't sharing. We don't have any sheep. You must be thinking of my uncle Brian. He was a sharer down in Hinds near Ashburton.

I think you're getting your words muddled up there, old timer. No wonder you couldn't work the computer. Or do you call it a typewriter?

THE CURMUDGEON ha detto...

Just kidding you but my uncle was a shearer.
