You learn a lot when you really focus on trying to learn a really hard piece of music.
This piece is a theme with eleven variations. I've picked up some very good tips from other violinists on Google and Youtube. I've also discovered that knowing the chord progression really helps. It sort of explains why a lot of notes are there and gives one a sort of guide track to help make sense of the notes.
I started this adventure on March 31st, so it's still early days but I feel I've made good progress on the first three variations.
Hey, have to go now. Consider this a Peter post.
Ciao tutti.

Look, is it jut me or was what Robert said a bit rude?
"is it jut me?"
Is your jaw pointing out?
Thanks for the input Rob.
Sorry, the 'big' computer, that spells better, was out of bounds.
No problem Lance corporal The Curmudgeon.
"I still maintain that the secret to these is to use the same fingering over multiple positions. The previous 23 Caprices suggests this."
I must admit that I haven't checked out the other Caprices but I think what you say is a bit simplistic. For a start, each variation has a different 'purpose'. Eg. No 1 is all about arpeggios and these come in different inversions. E7 is replaced by a G# diminished 7th 'chord'. Nos 2 & 3 require completely different techniques unique to themselves, as do the rest.

In your dreams Sparky, in your dreams.
How did Sparky get involved?
Is he a local electrician?
Look, haven't you got a scab to pick or something?
That 'Unknown' was me! The same thing happened on Robert (the not only apathetic sinner but also a sanctimonious sinner)'s blog. Strange.
Anyway, haven't you got a scab to pick or something?
Well, if it's a breeze, record it and show me. Thanks in anticipation.
I guess no news is good news.
