Has anyone else noticed that, since his readership rose to two, Peter (The Curmudgeon) is becoming rather bossy? I decided to consult my mum.
Richard (of RBB): Mum, is Peter getting too bossy?
Gloria: Well, he was mean to Robert about the car thing. Poor old Robert was just doing his best. I do think that Peter is becoming a bit of a know all. Yes, you could probably safely call him a bossiness crank.
Richard (of RBB): Thanks mother for clearing that up. Peter is now officially a bossiness crank. Hey, when it comes to labelling people, what Gloria says goes. Sorry Pete, take your label like a big boy and don't be a baby about it and say sorry to my mum.
Peter: Sorry mum, I mean Gloria.

Richard (of RBB): Oops, she may not talk to you for a while. Just be patient. Do your time.

"Poor old Robert was just doing his best."
Well, to me that's pretty telling. When a mother says that, she knows that her son has done a wrong thing.
I did know Gloria when she was alive (I don't know her now and, like my Mum she's gone never to return in some sort of triumphant parade that Robert believes will happen) and no doubt she did think that I was a bit of a know-it-all. None of her many sons made the 'P' classes at school so I guess it did make me stand out a bit. I wonder if she thought Tony was a bit of a know-it-all? Nah, she just thought he was a degenerate piss-head.
She never said 'know-it-all'. It would have been 'know all'. In fact, she was very fond of you both. Was the P class where they made that ugly drug? I think the G class meant 'good'.
"... she's gone never to return in some sort of triumphant parade that Robert believes will happen". Mother would probably have replied "You have to believe in something". And, you know what. She would be right!
Well, not about that returning thing - neither was my mother.
I did four hours of practice yesterday. 2 on violin and two on double bass.
Well, as long as you did your best. That's the most important thing.
