Well done Black Ferns!

 Yes, I'm watching rugby again - that game where grown men throw a ball around, except that it was grown women this time.

After narrowly getting past the French, the Black Ferns just didn't stop trying against an excellent English team and fought their way back for a 34 - 31 victory.

I intend to play at a concert tonight. At this concert you are allowed to play two tunes and I intend to play two of my solo double bass compositions - Sii Gentile and SMD.

Sii Gentile (Be Kind) is a pizzicato piece that I wrote last year, during the second lockdown, and is a tribute to our prime minister.

SMD (Shelley My Dear) is an arco piece that sort of evolved over quite a few years. I played it at a bass clinic in 2010 and the then principal bassist in the NZSO really liked it.

I did a lot of practice yesterday and my pizzicato fingers are a bit sore, so I'll have to go gently on them today.

We're going to a movie with our daughter this afternoon, so I'll try to get my practice done this morning. The Curmudgeon is threatening planning to write a post today about a garden space he is tidying up.

I hope he returns that trolley to the Whangarei Heads Countdown next time he's stocking up his Ckeanskin supply.

He'll probably give us a blow by blow account of cleaning out the rubbish and then making a trip to his local gardening centre. There you go, if you haven't got time to read his blog, I've sort of covered the content for you.
