As God said to Moses, "Don't forget to take the tablets."

I don't think the originals were written
in English, or Latin.

In a comment Peter took a shot at Robert and I for using Latin.

For those of you who don't know what 3G is all about, in the 1960s, at St. Pat's College in Wellington, third formers were divided into four levels of ability - 3P, 3G, 3M and (at the bottom) 3R. A little later 3M was changed to 3Com (Commercial) and 3R became 3M. This was because a lot of students described the lower two classes as 3 Moron and 3 Retarded.

Peter made it into 3P, where the boys studied Latin and how to steal communion hosts to make ten shillings. I made it into 3G. I'm not absolutely sure what class Rob was placed in, but he did earn a university degree, so he wasn't stupid.

These days, of course, anyone can write in Latin, thanks to Google Translate.

Kind of makes 3P a bit redundant.

Still, Peter likes to hold onto the old ways.

For example, he still plays golf and climbs down into creeks looking for golf balls. I remember Tony teaching him how to do that in the early 1970s. Nothing much changes.

Well, there you go.

The title of this blog was used by a band leader in Tauranga in the 1990s. I played some gigs with his band back then. The name of both him and his band was 'Doctor Jazz'. Yes, he was a doctor. The band was a Dixieland style jazz band. At the end of every gig, as he was saying 'goodbye' to the audience, he always finished with, "And, as God said to Moses, "Don't forget to take the tablets."" Dave, a good friend of mine was a front-line man in the band. He often told the audience, "We're not as bad as we sound." Dave showed me how to play the teapot.

There you go again.

Valete omnes.

Hey, Richard (of RBB), that was a great post. Interesting to read about 3P. I thought the name might be something to do with urine, and I am a thinking kind of guy.

Hi P.E.Nis,
I think they spent most of their time, in that class, studying Latin and trying to make it into the priesthood. At least Rob managed to complete a Psychology degree. I doubt that Peter ever had a regular girlfriend. I had heaps!

Yeah Richard (of RBB), I remember reading about your huge success with the ladies! I wouldn't mind getting some tips sometime.

Yep, I admit that, in my younger days, I was a bit of a chick magnet. I think that pissed Peter off a lot. Hey, I did try to give him advice, especially stuff I'd learnt from Tony. "Women like it when you're pissed. " Tony really seemed to have a handle on picking up girls. I'm eternally thankful to him.
