At the jam.

Shelley's picture doesn't tell you much, except which jersey and pants I was wearing, so I'll elaborate.

The audience was about six strong (more than both Robert's and Peter's regular blog readers), some of whom were singers who would come up front for a few numbers.

The jammers were three bass players, two guitarists, two drummers, a saxophonist, a trumpeter and a very old guy playing trombone. They were all reading from charts, which doesn't usually happen at a jam. Obviously, I was there with my violin, and no charts. Another guy came in late with a cornet. He is one of the top players in Wellington. It was nice to catch up with him. He didn't use charts either. No big surprise there. Everybody played together.

It was interesting having three bass players. One had a bass ukulele, another an upright electric bass and the third had a double bass. He was a nice guy, but he'd put marks all oner his double bass so that he could see where the notes were. Playing the double bass doesn't really work like that. Ah well, who is going to listen to me? Actually, I didn't think that having three bass players playing together was a good idea. Maybe they should have taken turns?

Anyway, at a jam you have to go along with the organizers.

Okay, time to sign off. I need to get psychologically ready for the movie about a guy walking a long way in Spain.

Ciao tutti.

Shelley sees the back of Richard (and has the photos) to prove it).

I had a look at the preview on YouTube.
It's the kind of film that Lynn makes me see. I resist but end up going and enjoy it immensely.
Women huh!
