He could feel that something was unusual, even at this time when a new pope was surely on the way. He found peace in the thought of Saul being on the way to Dinashq. Saul was not a great fan of Catholics. The Protestants had certainly contributed to the trouble by thinking they could work out the bible for themselves. John had made it clear that you must eat the flesh and blood of Jesus. Robert felt that something momentous was about to happen so, for a short time, he dressed as a girl.
Then he was drawn towards his favourite cause and his favourite flag. The news was a shock!

Had Robert just become pope? Well, it could easily just be a slight spelling mistake.
This would be great for the rights of women and gay rights. Robert was delighted.
He thought, "Do I need to start packing?" Maybe it was just a coincidence OR MAYBE NOT?

I didn’t see that coming.
It might of course be an inspired choice given the Trump administration debacle with deep rifts opening between USA, Europe, South America, Canada etc. An American pope _ particularly one with South American roots might help in reconciliation as long as he doesn’t come under Trump’s influence. I’m interested in following this closely.
He could have chosen a better and more American name though like Pope Hank I or Pope Buck I.
