In a recent post I used this 'view of god' that I found online.
Robert the quite a few different things hit back with a comment.
Well Rob, I never gave any indication of me performing any charitable works. I was brought up to believe that, if I do charitable work and then I advertise the fact, I'm sort of doing it for self-recognition. So, you'll have to judge me how you see fit.
What I will tell you is that, many years ago, my family supported a little girl in a small village in India. We continued to do so until she was deemed to be an adult and was no longer supported by the organisation. I can't remember how much we gave so maybe it wasn't much but we made regular payments to an organisation. Quite a few of our friends did the same thing. What got me was that this organisation sent out lots of glossy brochures and obviously had paid staff. It made us wonder how much money was left for the little girl.
Often I come across people outside supermarkets. I'm talking about the people who are not volunteers. They won't take a donation but want to sign you up for life. Make no mistake about it, these people are being paid. It makes me think that their cause comes second. Yes, I know that there are also volunteers - like people collecting for breast cancer - who happily take any contribution and take nothing for themselves.
Anyway, you obviously misread the thing I put up.
It's talking about who god grants favours to and who he doesn't grant favours to. It's talking about someone who prays for a new car and gets it. Okay, this is not really god's fault, just like Father Christmas getting thanked for Chrismas presents is not really accurate. This is really what we call irony.
The person who wrote the thing is really thinking about how a REAL JUST GOD would behave.
To spell it out in simple language, a just god would more likely save sick children before he would worry about someone living in a pretty well off country who needed a new deck on his house.
A new deck. Thanks to God! |
I hope that helps Rob.

Thanks Bin.
Yes, as you know, I'm a thinking kind of guy. Those other two bloggers, Peter and Robert, must learn a lot from your posts.
Phillip Edward Nis
Thanks Phillip. I think they struggle with the grammar.
