Thanks guys. You've all played a part in this success.

Robert the sanctimonious whatever has played a small part too.

TC would have played golf today. I hope he didn't break anything whilst gathering balls from the stream.

Hello to all the Richard's Bass Bag guys (but not that dickhead Phillip Edward Nis- we have our standards up here you know). It's good to see that you old fogeys get to go out occasionally. Hey! Good on you. It's (maybe) nice to see that you can leave knowing that those other 'Bass Bag' guys you created can mind the shop while you're away. I hope that works out for you. Have a nice evening and don't drink too much unless it's from a good bottle with a label on it. Remember- "bere vino prodotto da piedi sporchi e filtrato attraverso vecchi calzini non avrà mai il sapore di Hawkes Bay Chardonnay" - an old Italian guy up here keeps saying that.

I didn't play golf today. I watched the quarter final between France and Morocco in the FIFA World Cup football. It started at 8AM. Boy, this FIFA competition is interesting and, apart from the odious and onerous politics involved with it being played in Qatar, it has turned up (and upset) some amazing results. The geo-political background to a match between France and a North African country is definitely interesting (look it up on Google if you didn't make the 'P' classes at college). France won even though Morocco seemed to dominate the game. It will be interesting for the rabid English football fans (England got booted out at the quarter finals stage) to pick a side that they hate the less - the 'Argies' or the French in the final. I pick that even though they are still pumped up by their Margaret Thatcher contrived 'war' against Argentina in the 1980s (the only 'war' that Britain has won in, like, centuries) they still hate the French more. Watch this space. - well, maybe not 'this space' as it's Richard's Bass Bag space where no-one ever visits - better to watch the space in The Curmudgeon's blog(s). The final is on Monday morning NZ time and The Curmudgeon will watch it and report back to you (two readers).
No, no golf this morning but, after the football I went to play tennis, initially in the rain but it turned out to be a great day. My tennis, like the weather started poorly but then, if I do say so myself, developed into something only short of sensational.
Well, I'd better go now as this is a comment rather than a post and I do mean that - I'd better go now as The Old Girl is standing around waiting for her dinner which, I'm happy to say isn't a three day left-over fish salad.
